Oral Surgery Appointment

An oral surgery appointment will only be recommended in the event we were not able to complete all of your pet's required dental work during their first dental appointment visit.  This is an uncommon scenario and generally only needed if your pet was found to have extensive dental disease and multiple, complex extractions.  You will know if your pet will need a follow-up appointment at the conclusion of your first visit with us.

When you arrive for your pet's oral surgery appointment, you will be greeted by a member of our veterinary team, and you will drop your pet off with us to complete their recommended treatment plan.  We will follow the same anesthesia plan that was previously established allowing for adjustments if indicated.  He or she will be anesthetized and full anesthetic monitoring will be performed--including vitals, ECG, blood pressure, oxygenation, and ventilation--and your pet will be given IV fluids to ensure adequate hydration and blood flow to organs.  Your pet will receive injectable nerve blocks, all necessary extractions will be completed, and he or she will be given post-operative pain control medications and antibiotics if indicated.  Your charges will not differ from the previously established treatment plan.  At the conclusion of your pet’s visit, our veterinary staff will show you before and after photographs and any additional x-rays that may have been obtained, and we will go over all home-care instructions with you to ensure your pet has a smooth recovery.

YOUR DOG or CAT MUST BE FASTED 6 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TIME!

Ferrets do not need to be fasted.
